The Cats and the Bee

Anastasia was a kitty of power,

With a sister whose name was just Bob,

They had lots of adventures together,

Like jumping on their owner’s hob.

One day they saw a bumble bee,

All buzzy and fuzzy and fat.

Anastasia said, “I want to eat it,”

Bob said, “It’d taste a bit flat.”

But Anastasia was having none of it,

And with dignity and lots of grace,

She pounced towards the sleepy bee,

And landed on top of its face.

Now the bee was not very happy,

And said with a grumbly shout,

“You naughty kitty have upset me,

So I’m ‘gonna sit here and pout!”

“But you look ever so tasty,”

Anastasia replied with glee,

“I’d be quick with the job, don’t you worry,

And do it without charging a fee.”

“Well sure, you made it sound fun,”

Said the bee with a cheery smile,

So Anastasia said, “I can do it now,

Or we can wait a little while.”

Now Bob had been watching this chat,

And said with snarl and a hiss,

“I really am not sure,

If you should be doing this.”

“Our owner will be back quite soon,

And she would not be very happy,

To see her little kitty,

Eat a ginormous bumblebee.”

Anastasia did not care at all,

And began with her new tasty treat,

By putting it on a platter,

With all sorts of tasty meat.

At that moment the door opened wide,

And who did the two kitties see?

Their owner all covered in snow,

Who shouted, “How can this be?”

She took the platter and carried the bee,

To the window to let it fly off,

Then ate the meat all for herself,

And downed it with a glass of good broth!

The kitties shrieked with annoyance,

Even Bob joined in,

They said, “We made that meal fair and square,

Now you’ll feed us from a gross tin!”

Said the owner, “You two little sillies,

You’ll have a feast even though,

You tried to eat a fat bumblebee,

You’ll get milk treats to help your bones grow.”

So the kitties and owner dined,

On milk and veggies and honey,

And the bee watched from outside the window,

And cackled a laugh of glee.
