End of Term...

Some how, another term has already flown past us and we are soon to enter the fourth month of 2026. Are you already begging for a do-over or have you kept your new year's resolutions? If so well done, very impressive.

If, like many of us, the news has just gotten too depressing, leading you to avoid it all together, here is a quick recap for this year's biggest news (with minimal negativity).

Bad Bunny smashed the Super Bowl half time show, inviting stars on the pitch of human grass including Pedro Pascal (Mandalorian Star) and Lady Gaga (Pop Icon).

After winning three Grammys including 'Album of the Year'. This well deserved prize highlighted not only his incredible stage presence- despite many threats being thrown his way- but also the amazing world of Latin culture and music; I highly recommend any students thinking of taking Spanish A-LEVEL, GCSE or perhaps holidaying in a Spanish-speaking country this break to give his new album a go- it is an incredible listen- just ask Benito's biggest fan Mrs Fernandez!

Also music related, the one and only Harry Styles has finally returned announcing and releasing along with a tour his fourth album- Kiss all the Time. Disco, Occasionally- after three years MIA. Again, I couldn't praise this album enough; it has a song for every situation, 'Disco No More' could get even my introverted self onto the dance-floor! and 'Coming Up Roses' is at the top of every 2026 wedding playlist.

In other news, Generative Ai is still at the forefront of every social sector you can name and if growing in both use and debate every day. I'm sure each one of our readers has used Ai at some point this year- maybe even for homework! But how do you feel about it controlling the content you see on your phone and what companies can see from your phone too? The only message I will leave on this topic is to be careful what information you share online.

Finally, WWIII. Maybe you've seen a trend of Tiktok titled "Reasons I can't go to war:" but fear not there are thousands of speculative articles and posts online but let me be the one to say with certainty: there is nothing to worry about. Whilst there is conflict occurring in different parts of Europe and Asia, and the Prime Minister has decided to support the US's involvement, the likelihood of an outbreak of conflict here is extremely low- make sure any further information or research conducted on the matter is from a reliable source and always takes opinions with a piece of salt.

Regardless, a closing message for year 11s and 13s: Take this break as both an opportunity to relax but also a two week window of study for any weak topics in the subjects you've been avoiding. I hate to tell you this, but time is tick, tick, ticking and we need to crack on with productive and active revision. However, just as importantly, catch up of some well-earnt sleep. Treat yourself to a lunch date with friends or family, maybe catch a movie after at the new Roxy Cinema in Bishop Stortford or binge a new Netflix series. Make space for you, and allow yourself to be selfish so you don't burn out before the final push.

Have a wonderful break and Happy Easter to you all!
