Congratulations everyone, staff and students, for surviving the first term off school. You have all done so well, I hope the new year 7s and 12s have settled into their new school environment and have already made new memories at Leventhorpe.

As we move into the new year I’d like to reflect on 2025:Firstly thank you to everyone who contributed to LevTimes, we’ve had some excellent pieces of writing submitted and I’m very glad to see some new faces on our profiles list- keep up the work!

I think generally 2025 has been a being or extremes, there’s been some of the best and some of the worst moments not just personally but internationally. Some of the key moments for the “25 diaries that have defined our year include: The election of Pope Leo XIV, President Trump remained impossible to ignore in 2025, generating 206.2 million total mentions, Political crises in France, Argentina’s presidential elections, Hurricane Amy and Mellisa, The assassination of Charlie Kirk – good or bad depending on who you ask- Sean Combs sentenced to 50 months in prison and more recently Australia becomes the first country to ban social media for under 16s. And that just to name a few! Its incredible to think that so much can happen in one year and whilst we made it through many people unfortunately did not. We have lost so many talented artists, directors, actors and more this year sadly who so many people has made tributes to. Let’s hope their legacies aren’t left on New Year’s Eve and that they are remembered for many years to come.

Speaker of new years, I wonder how many of you are as excited as I am for a new start. I encourage you all to focus on yourself throughout January and carry this on, planning and making space for you is vital especially for our Year 11 and 13 classes and they prepare for exams this Spring- there are lots of articles in our ‘Archive’ section about exam stress so do check them out! I myself have been scrolling through Pinterest- definitely not during study periods if teachers are reading this- for inspiration for any goals I might have. Research has shown that visual inspiration and reminders for what you want to achieve makes it more likely for them to happen- keep that in mind when you’re bored after Christmas waiting for New Year’s.

Anyway, it’s time for LevTimes to log-off after a very chaotic year. Have a restful break and a fabulous Christmas!!

Comms Committee :)
