Why Gravity Falls Should Get A Spin Off Series About Bill

-MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR GRAVITY FALLS AND THE BOOK OF BILL-

So, if you are reading this, you probably know about Gravity Falls; that it ended in 2016, and that Bill Cipher died in the end. BUT, we believe that a spin-off series about his return in The Book of Bill where he goes to ‘theraprism’ for the 10-year anniversary of the show’s end would be a great idea!

In the Book of Bill, he goes to therapy by order of the axolotl as a means of redemption, so we could get a show where we see Bill in theraprism, trying to escape or working at the mystery shack like in fan-made Alternate Universes. It would be extremely entertaining and fun, and means we could also potentially see more of Gravity Falls!

The spin-off would mean that fans could finally get real confirmation on Bill's lore: the story of his parents and world, which was not-so-subtly hinted at throughout ‘thisisnotawebsite.com’ and Book of Bill. It would be extremely cool to see this in the hypothetical spin-off, as well as getting a better understanding of Bill and his backstory. Although Bill and Gideon were the main antagonists of the show, we feel like Bill should have had more screen time, so having him be the main character would be an interesting and new perspective of the Gravity Falls Universe!

Sadly, though, it is very unlikely that we will get this spin-off series. Alex Hirsch (the creator of Gravity Falls), when replying to a fan asking for a spin-off series about when the Grunkles were Mable and Dipper's age, said they, "sound like they would make for a few short one-off stories, but I doubt there’s enough urgency to sustain a whole series". He also said that, "The reason the show isn’t over because of networks or channels, it's because the story is done. The mystery is over, the story has arced".

So, unfortunately, we don’t think there is going to be a spin-off or third season, but it’s nice to imagine what it would be if it was.
