When I Grow Up…

I want to play the part of Matilda. At least that’s what the community of Leventhorpe will be feeling after seeing our school production of Matilda next week.

Students and staff have been working hard to pull together a fantastic school production in the wake of the Covid pandemic.

Scenery painting, uniform creating, and music-making, will all come together to make the magic happen here on our very own Leventhorpe school stage.

Let’s take a moment to applaud some of the people behind the scenes (excuse the pun) who help to make the Leventhorpe school productions such a resounding success. Today, we meet the musicians.

Students from across the year groups have been rehearsing and working tirelessly, to perfect the eclectic collection of Tim Minchin’s musical masterpieces that form the soundtrack to the Matilda production.

Due to copyright limitations, the band, who is usually comprised of 15 staff and students, has been filtered down to only seven members. No pressure, folks!

These seven, musically gifted people, will be entertaining us with the likes of ‘Revolting Children’, ‘Naughty’, and the tear-jerking favourite, ‘When I Grow Up’.

Indeed, let’s give them the credit they are due. Conducting this talented bunch is Mr Reece, with Nick Jones on guitar, Anneka Pelley on flute, Mrs Gill on piano, Mr Beardsworth on trumpet, Harry Roberts on drums, and Sebastian Poyser on bass.

We shall, I’m sure, enthusiastically celebrate the incredible actors and actresses, singers and choreographers at Leventhorpe, and we shall add an extra clap for the musical, creative, and ‘behind the scenes’ talent who make it all happen.

Tickets can be purchased via the Leventhorpe website. Book now, tickets are selling fast!
