On Thursday 6th March 2025, Caroline Boxall visited Leventhorpe to talk to a handful of students about her competition, Short Stories of Courage (the predecessor being Short Stories of Hope).

Short Stories of Courage is a competition designed to give young people an almost once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a published author at a very young age. Students compete to be in the top 50 best stories to be chosen and published in the book, by Caroline Boxall herself.

Caroline is a lifelong writer who is dedicated and committed to giving young people a voice through both her stories and the opportunities she gives to school children. An example of this is Short Stories of Courage. Caroline is also a self-published author who continues to persevere despite her multiple sclerosis (a disease that causes breakdown of the protective covering of nerves) and the difficulties that come with being both a writer and a publisher - it requires two very different personalities!

When Caroline came into Leventhorpe she talked about her stories and hosted a small talk to a class of students who wanted to compete in Short Stories of Courage; this helped the students make their own stories for the competition, which would set them off for a great future in writing. She aims to write ten books altogether by the end of this year, as well as being a mum, a professional speaker, a teacher and an author all at once. She is the definition of a hard and enthusiastic worker.
