Last week, Key Stage 3 students took part in a production of Annie; 3 shows took place over the week, and the play ran for a whopping 75 minutes without an interval, despite the heat.

The audience sat patiently, waiting for the show to begin. The performance opened with one of the main orphans, Molly, coming off the wings to take her place. The show followed Annie’s pursuit of escaping her orphanage, staying loyal to the original text. The actors expertly portrayed the central themes of deceit, hope, and family.

The whole team arrived early to get into costume, makeup and set the stage. Before each performance, the actors took part in a group warmup to prepare them for the show.

After each performance, high-fives were shared all around to celebrate the success of each show.

Posters of our own Sandy the Dog (played brilliantly by Leah Ward 7F) have been put up around Sawbridgeworth, in order to create publicity for the show.

At the end of the week, the performers received awards for their efforts, including the Mini-Sarj award (going to Nick Jones 13L and Emily White 10L) and the triple threat award (being won by Alice White 7L, Alice Rider 7B and Elena Benn 7M).
